Change Already?

December 12th, 2008

Since the election things have just really gotten creepy. Here is my rundown.

  • Illinois politician arrested for “selling” another political office
  • Senate rejecting auto bailout on account of American workers having to take a pay cut (better some job than no job, methinks)
  • Price of green peppers up to 2 for $5 (this should be a crime)
  • Price of gallon of gas down to $1.34 in the southern states

What Time DOES The Rooster Crow?

December 9th, 2008

So far the biggest adjustment I have made is the time I go to bed and the time I wake up. When you live in the “city that never sleeps” you realize you can do almost anything at almost anytime so the pressure to get to bed by XYZ time in order to wake up by XYZ time is rendered almost useless. But when you move to say, um, rural Georgia, there is really nothing to do beyond sunset. Well, nothing other than read, watch TV, play on the computer, etc. But as far as stores, work, recreation, etc., all of those things are closed.

So, last night I went to bed around 10pm and was up this morning around 6:45am. You may think that is insane. Do the math though. I got 8 hours and 45 minutes of sleep? Did you?

Today I Look For A Job

December 8th, 2008

Seeing as I am one of the members of the (what I now call) elite 6.7 club, it is time to go out, pound the pavement, knock on a few doors, and pray that change does come in January. This elite club of which I speak is the unemployment club. We meet daily; each time we wake up, in fact. We are a hardworking bunch and continue to see growth in our ranks. We don’t carry cards as we do everything we can to reduce overhead and live minimally. Once a week or so we get very excited and very motivated and go out with resume in one hand and cheap coffee in the other hoping to attract the attention of some middle management supervisor of some demeaning retail location. Today is that day for me.
