In the grand scheme of things Twitter doesn’t matter to me. In fact, neither does Facebook.

Yes, both have provided me with contact to old friends, introductions to new ones and plenty of conversations that have made my days of graphic designer grindstone cubicle-dwelling more bearable. But when I am at home with Pan and doing chores around the little farm or feeding the chickens or tending to the garden or something of that nature I forget all about it; the computer, the hashtags, the status updates. They just don’t seem to matter any longer.

But today I found my morning empty of “to do’s.” For the first time in a long time I had 2-3 hours to just man the website

The Third Man

Miracle download , keep up on emails and drink some Dunkin Donuts coffee. So, whilst doing all of this I decided to make a new Twitter background. It isn’t the best thing I have ever designed. It isn’t even very professional looking. And no, it doesn’t stay within my anotherkindofdrew.com branding. But it was fun and this morning I feel fun.

Well, I finally sat down and updated my online portfolio this morning. Nothing that special. I added a new category (design), a new photograph (Carters.jpg) and a new social media section (CityPorters). It may not seem like a lot but when you have been putting it off as long as I have, it is a lot.

To tell you the truth, I am not really sure why I continue to update my blog. I love my job and don’t intend on looking for another for some time. I don’t really market anotherkindofdrew so it isn’t like I send people to the URL. I guess I just feel like a good accurate representation of who I am and what I am doing is necessary.

Speaking of which, I now need to go back and update my ‘About’ and my resume. But, I need some coffee first.

The week started out auspiciously enough. Well, that isn’t even true. The week started out unlike any other in about five years.

Monday morning I was to be at work at 9am. I haven’t had to “be at work” at any time for at least the past 5 years. Sure, I have worked. Because you know me you know that work is a bit of an obsession with me. But I worked from home and never had to go in anywhere by any particular time. So, you are probably wondering. What work did I have to be at? Well, as of last Friday I am now on the staff of The Barnesville Herald-Gazette download Homeward Bound II: Lost in San Francisco dvd Lilo & Stitch movie download Mr. Destiny movie

Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna movie . My job is the layout of Section A (pages 1, 2, and 3) as well as photo-journalism covering local politics, architecture, arts, and “green Barnesville

Monsters vs. Aliens hd

.” Beyond that I am working on some repositioning of the online version and helping the newspaper use social networking to grow its demographic. Many of you should have received an invite to join our Facebook group.

I came home from work each night this week simply exhausted. I am using Quark for layout (which is not my priority over InDesign) and shooting a lot of images around town. My days didn’t end at 6pm though. When I got home I helped with dinner and even found time for baking with my dad including chocolate chip vegan cookies, organic oatmeal raisin cookies, pecan divinity with my Aunt Dolores, and some other random things.

I felt bad at some points because I haven’t spent as much time with Pan as I would like. But I think it is important for her to see me in a work atmosphere so she can better understand how I operate when it comes to balancing work with “real life.” I am getting much better though with letting work go when the proverbial whistle blows. I don’t take work home with me anymore. I haven’t even configured Mac Mail to answer my work email. I don’t take calls of people that don’t show up on my caller ID. I am trying very hard to learn to enjoy life in all of its simplicity.

Having said that I write today from Pink Hill, North Carolina as Pan and I are here to spend this time just prior to Christmas day with her family. So, I hope each of you had a great week and are enjoying the holidays as best you can. Cheers!

Since Tuesday Emily and I have been working at the Four Pillars Inn in Rolling Fork, MS doing some odds and ends work for the owner, our friend Nick Secoy. The odds and ends ended up being some sheetrocking, mudding, taping, sanding and then priming. Even though we knew little of what we were doing we still had a great time doing it and just doing something different. It is great to get your hands dirty sometimes and seeing some instant result on your work. Call it manual R.O.I. I would say that Emily and I have quite a future in restoration and such. You can see our photos of the job by visiting my Flickr. If you want to hire us, just contact me directly.
