So proud of my girls
We have seven good layers – hens that is. Seven good, solid laying hens. One of them is just coming out of a molting season and another has finally gotten old enough to consistently lay.
I say all of this to announce that today we have set a new record. Today when Pan and I went out to get the eggs (we have afternoon layers) we found six (6) eggs waiting for us. A normal day provides 4 or 5. But today? Well, today we had 6 and I was as proud as I have ever been.
They were beautiful eggs too. What a rewarding thing to see your hens strutting around proudly having just laid an egg for us. Makes all those dark morning of laying out mash and cleaning up chicken poop worth it.

Lovely. I miss my chickens. Spring is just around the corner and I am going to get a couple bittys again. Congrats on having good layers.
Have you ever seen the keeping chickens newsletter?
Gina writes it and she is wonderful! If you go back long enough, you will see a ton of pictures of my kids with our girls.

I haven’t seen that yet but you can bet I will be checking it out. Thank you for taking a look at my blog and making some comments.
UPDATE: We have now hit 7 eggs. That’s right. Our girls put out 7 eggs on four separate days last week.
