Life when it rains
This weekend was supposed to be spent filling in a bit of land to make drainage in the backyard a little more efficient as well as to level out some land just around the garden. However, as with most of the East coast, the rain set in yesterday and has yet to let up. In fact, it is still raining now and we have right at 4.72″ of rain that I can tell. Needless to say my original plans had to be altered. But I really had nothing else to do so I needed a bit of a backup.
The day started with what has become mine and my dad’s weekly breakfast at Hardee’s. Yes, I know. Not very fancy but certainly an enjoyable time as it is just he and I and it gives us a chance to just catch up on each others week.
We then came back home and generally messed around in the kitchen making up some cookie dough for later and putting some beans on the stove for dinner. It was then that Pop suggested we head down to Macon and the Bass Pro store. Now, you may know that I am NOT a fan of the BPS as it tends to attract the redneck, huntin’ and fishin’, NACAR crowd that I just don’t fit in with. But I figured it was at least something to do.
The entire trip there we talked about the 2nd amendment and what our current federal gov’t was doing in terms of gun control and such. Several reports have been issued about the subject and with my recent procurement of a concealed weapon permit I have taken a renewed interest in marksmanship and the 2nd.
Two hours later and a box of .22 rounds, .357 slugs, and a case of .12 gauge shells, we were back in the truck driving through the rain towards home.
Once home I put my PJ pants back on and made a pot of coffee. With my fresh cup I sat on the back porch with my cat, Stranger, and basically just watched the world. Nothing special really. Just simple enjoyment.
I guess that kind of brings me to now. I am sitting here, checking email, catching up on my RSS, and wondering why I thought anyone would care to read this post about my seemingly dull day and the fun it turned out to be.
