Is The South All That Dirty?
I have been talking in past weeks with dreXeL and our new friend Kris Krug about a potential mixed media art-on-the-road project in which we will challenge ourselves to discover the real role of the southern region in today’s cultural climate. I mean, what actually gives the south its gentility, its beauty, and its mystique? Why do we call it the “dirty”? Is it still a breeding ground for confederate sympathies or has it morphed into something else?
We have few details at this point but I am asking you to enlighten me with your own views of the south. What stories enthrall you? What memories do you have? What repulses you? Where should we be looking? This is an open forum so talk away!

I’ve really been considering doing a photo project with a goal of capturing the essence of as many eastern North Carolina cities/towns as I can. There are some real gems, some hidden beauty and some real decay that are fascinating to me. My real goal with that would be to capture it as I see it, and to hopefully show why it’s great to people who have never ventured south of that Mason-Dixon line (Florida not included).
