Is The South All That Dirty?

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I have been talking in past weeks with dreXeL and our new friend Kris Krug about a potential mixed media art-on-the-road project in which we will challenge ourselves to discover the real role of the southern region in today’s cultural climate. I mean, what actually gives the south its gentility, its beauty, and its mystique? [...]

Rockin Out With Your Top Out

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Today was Go Topless Day across the United States. That’s right. Go topless. Women (and some men) across the nation gathered to demonstrate and exercise the female constitutional right to go topless by actually assembling and going topless in public spaces. The visual effort was also used to reemphasize Women’s Equality Day. Now, as a [...]

Between the Country and the Beach

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Yes, there is this very odd locale that exists somewhere between the oceanfront and the country. It is where the grass begins to mix with sand and the only plants that will grow are bushes and forms of cactus. The breezes are cool but are always mixed with this heavy salinity. Well, the shoes have been delivered. Thanks to my neighbors and cousins, I was able to take 17 pairs of “gently worn” shoes to The Foot Comfort Store in Manhattan to donate. Soles4Souls is very cool and I am grateful I was able to do this.

Jesus Probably Rides a Bike

Friday, August 8th, 2008

“Incredible!” whispered Jesus, his head near Mack’s in the darkness. “I never get tired of this.” “Even though you created it?” Mack asked. “I created it as the Word, before the Word became flesh. So even though I created this, I see it now as a human. And I must say, it is impressive!” – [...]

Literally Keeping the Word

Friday, August 8th, 2008

We all know (okay, so maybe I had to look it up too) that in 1456, Gutenberg printed the first Bible using movable type. Until the 19th century no record was kept as to how many more Bibles were printed in some form or another. However, starting in 1816 The Bible Society of the United [...]
