The Infamous Blue IKEA Bag
I think we are all aware of the crackdown on plastic bags across the nation. If you aren’t then this blog post might catch you up. One of the most committed is IKEA which now charges 5 cents for their plastic bags and 50 cents for their big, blue bags. Here is my suggestion if you are moving to a city like New York that is run by mass transit. Not only should you buy one or two of the “Big Blues” but you should roll them up, wrap a rubberband around them and carry them everywhere.
I went to Target in Flatbush this evening to pick up a few things including four pillows. You can see by the picture that I got a bit carried away and ended up with a few purchases. But I had my two “Big Blues” with me and everything fit right in. With a train ride home consisting of two transfers, the bags came in handy. They have great shoulder handles that allow you to walk around like a pack mule with efficiency and an eco-friendly conscience.
